Web Hosting for Start-Ups seems to be one of those grey areas. Most start-ups forget to factor this cost into the budget. Some people see web hosting as a very technical subject with huge words that can baffle you. However finding a good web hosting company can be the hardest part. They all have hundreds of different web hosting packages and one is bound to suit the needs of your website. Today I am going to try and explain 3 different types of web hosting I feel will suit most start up online businesses.

Cloud Hosting
Cloud Hosting is one of the newest forms of hosting available for businesses. Most people associate cloud hosting with applications such as Dropbox or SkyDrive when in fact they are slightly different. From my point of view this hosting is becoming one of the more popular types of hosting available for businesses from Cloud Hosts. It works by storing all your data not only on one computer but also on multiple storage devices.
The wonderful thing about this is that if one computer breaks down then all your data is saved on a different computer so your website will always remain live. This service would not be suitable for companies who deal with data protection like credit card details, if you need to protect credit card numbers then PCI DSS Certification would be perfect for you.
Dedicated Hosting
As the name suggests this type of hosting provides your business with its own dedicated server. This means that if you have a number of different websites you can tore them all on this dedicated server. This is most commonly used by marketing agencies or website developers.
This hosting will also allow you to log in remotely and make any software installs or updates whenever you want. This is suited for a website with high volumes of traffic for example and ecommerce website. This can sometimes be costly for start-ups however sometimes it will be perfect for their new website.
Shared Hosting
This is by far the most common type of web hosting used by start-up business. Unlike dedicated hosting you will have to share a sever with other websites. This does not mean that the other website have any control or admin rights to your website and this works both ways. Every website on a shared server should still be viewed as a separate entity. Each client is allocated a certain amount of space on the server but you share the same resources as everyone else.
This can sometimes mean that you website is a little bit slower than one on a dedicated server. This is the most reasonably priced hosting and will suit most start ups.
