Cookstown’s CDEnviro eyes export markets

COOKSTOWN-based manufacturing firm CDEnviro is to undergo a major expansion which will create 20 jobs by August and includes a substantial extension to its existing production capacity.

A one-time division of screening giant CDE Global, the company manufactures a range of equipment for the sewage and waste water treatment industries.

It already supplies major UK water utilities including Scottish Water, Severn Trent and United Utilities.

The expansion will enable CDEnviro to expand outside Ireland and Britain into lucrative markets in western Europe and Latin America.

General manager Matt Bunting said: “This expansion is the result of the success we have enjoyed in the UK market since our formation in April 2011 and the creation of these new high value jobs is great news for Northern Ireland.”

CDEnviro originally operated as a division of CDE Global, the manufacturer of washing and classification equipment with application in quarries and mines.

The two companies operate from the same headquarters in Cookstown, and the new export focus for CDEnviro mirrors the approach taken by CDE Global, which has opened new offices in India and Brazil in recent years.

The company also has an extensive distribution network covering Europe, Australasia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

CDE employs more than120 people between CDE Global, CDEnviro and CDE do Brasil, with an additional 120 staff based India.

“Our success is down to a continuing focus on innovation, developing the right partnerships and constantly developing our people” Brian McCullough, CDE Global’s head of talent and organisational development, said.

“Our continued success in export markets is the driver for the latest expansion which will see a range of exciting new employment opportunities being created with both CDE Global and CDEnviro across a number of departments including design, R&D, customer support, project management and sales.”

Project management on the project is being under-taken by Jim Eastwood of Yellowbrick while the main contractor is Sean McGlone Building Contractors.
