About Harnessing Creativity:

The Harnessing Creativity project aims to exploit the wealth of creative and artistic talent in Tyrone, Fermanagh, Leitrim and the wider region.  The Harnessing Creativity project runs until May 2015 and is expected to benefit 200 creative businesses and 100 practitioners from the broader economy during this period. Harnessing Creativity has received funding of €799,880 through the European Union’s INTERREG IVA programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).  The Cross-Border Project is being delivered by Leitrim County Enterprise Board in partnership with the Irish Central Border Area Network (ICBAN), Leitrim County Council, Fermanagh District Council, Omagh Enterprise Agency, Tyrone Donegal Partnership and the Leitrim Design House.

The Event: Expanded Territories Exhibition – Official Opening

The Date & Time: Friday 20th September, 6pm

What’s Happening?

The Expanded Territories exhibition explores the outcome of bringing together people from divergent industries, fields and disciplines and encourages them to create solutions together, step out of their comfort zones and collaborate, support and inform each other.

The Event: The Science Gallery’s pop-up event – MAKESHOP

The Date & Time: Thursday 26th September, 10am-6pm.

Where? The Dock, Carrick-on-Shannon

What’s Happening? Join the famous Science Gallery from Trinity College Dublin at this unique pop up event. MAKESHOP will teach you new skills in everything from DIY robotics to 3D printing. This pop-up experiment in making is for everyone from novices to advanced makers, young to old. The aim of MAKESHOP is to provide people with the tools, materials and guidance they need to get making, in a place where creativity is encouraged and everyone is welcome.

Free one to one advice clinics with Jill Stronge from Omagh Enterprise Company for anyone looking to change career ,just starting in working life, recently unemployed or under employed.

Providing -One-to-one advice from experienced business mentors, an opportunity to investigate future prospects, support with Individual action plans.

What: Beyond Territories Seminar

What’s Happening: A one-day seminar showcasing the diversity of Irish creative practices

About this Event:

Harnessing Creativity’s one-day free seminar will expand on some of the themes addressed in the Expanded Territories exhibition, particularly focusing on the challenges faced by creative practitioners and enterprises. With a host of national representatives from the wider creative sector, the day will excite, ignite and inspire. The event is chaired by TV3’s Collette Fitzpatrick.

Speakers include Brendan Byrne, organiser of Offset, one of Europe’s largest design-centred conferences which sells out to audiences in the Bord Gais Energy theatre each year.

Rory O’Connor and Anita Murphy, creators of the infamous Rory’s Story Cubes and Brendan Canty & Conal Thomson from FeelGoodLost, an exciting duo working in visual arts and film while also growing their music label of the same name and award winning architect Dominic Stevens who’s recent projects include the Irish Vernacular, how to build a €25,000 home.

This FREE event is open to ALL creative practitioners or businesses and is not confined to any particular regional area. Register for the seminar if you are interested in integrating innovative, creative working models into your company, exploring potentially new directions for your practice or want to meet and make contact with peers and professionals in the sector.
