Adapt NI Award For Entrepreneurs

Award to promote independence and skills of people with disabilities

Adapt NI have launched an award as part of its legacy programme that aims to support local entrepreneurs and raise awareness of the skills and creativity of people with disabilities.

The award helps to deliver Adapt NI objectives to promote independence for local disabled people and to assist their participation as equal citizens in all aspects of society.

The programme is now open for applications.

Recipients will receive a grant of £500 to help develop or expand a business idea.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • have a recognised disability or long term health condition
  • have at least 25% management stake in the business
  • have potential business turnover in excess of £10,000
  • have a NI registered business
  • produce a viable business plan or evidence of trading for up to two years

All information will be assessed at the discretion of the Adapt Award Panel.

Application Process

Applications should be submitted in writing to Adapt NI by 28 November 2014 and should include:

  • details of personal work experience, including experience gained in a voluntary capacity
  • business plan or audited management accounts (dated no more than 12 months old)
  • point-by-point summary illustrating how you meet criteria above
  • contact details for two referees who are familiar with your business

Short listed applicants will be contacted in advance of December interviews. The Panel’s decision is final. Awards will be announced December 2014.
