Can you describe your business?

The term business would be used very lightly but it’s a social media blog that I use with the aim of exercise education and mental motivation. It could vary from meal ideas to workout. Some posts are thought out, some are spur of the moment.

Why did you start your own business?

MStrength & Fitness got up and going shortly after I came home from Australia. Initially I wanted something to develop a platform for my personal training services via fit for life. I was conscious at the beginning that I didn’t want to push anything down anyone’s throat but I wanted to create an avenue for people to get in touch.

What are the best things about running your own business?

I often get asked this and it’s simple, I’m doing something I love every day. Training clients, making people feel comfortable, help them set goals and work towards achieving these and I also love to blog. The motto that if you find something that you love doing you’ll never have to work a day in your life.

What are the main challenges facing the business?

Everyday presents its own unique hurdles that you had not anticipated. Session planning for days/ weeks ahead is something people easily forget about when considering personal training. Targeting the current market trends or what’s hot and tailor making programmes/ classes to suit the individual or a large group in question can be a challenge in itself. It is a time consuming job. You need to be prepared for crazy o clock working hour days.

What advice would you give to someone starting a business?

Advice- simple, take the plunge. Search for change or a gap and exploit it as an opportunity. Invest some time in yourself. Nobody is a finished article. CPD is a continuous circle.

Can you describe your experience of running a business in three words or less?

Everyday is different.
