The Omagh-based company – which is part of US firm Astec – designs, manufactures and installs mobile bulk material handing systems.
It is made up of two divisions – aggregate and mining, and ports and inland terminals. The core of its business is focused on exports to South America, Africa, India and Europe.
Now it’s building a 15,500 sq ft site made up of a pre-treatment facility, preparation area and three paint booths. The new facility is the first phase of major expansion plans by the business.
Managing director Martin Dummigan said: “Investment in our surface finishing process is necessary to support our company’s growth.
“Central to our long-term growth strategy is the future-proofing of our facility so that we continue to provide an extensive range of world-class products.”
He said the firm would be investing “millions” into its Omagh factory over the next 18 months with the aim of improving product cycle-time, plant safety and the quality of its products.
Commercial director Malachy Gribben added: “Our global business continues to expand and we are preparing for sustained growth.”
The paint facility is to be finished by the end of June.
Telestack, which was founded in Omagh in 1999, was sold in 2014 for around £20m to Astec Industries, enabling the smaller firm to fast-track its expansion plans.
Astec Industries describes itself as a manufacturer of equipment for “building and restoring the world’s infrastructure“.
