Avian Influenza Roadshow

Sign up for the Avian Influenza roadshow at CAFRE Greenmount on 6 October 2017.

Between December 2016 and June 2017, 13 cases of Avian Influenza were confirmed in kept poultry in the UK.

This had a major impact on the UK poultry industry through the introduction of movement restrictions, biosecurity requirements to separate birds from wild birds, and the temporary loss of exports to other countries.

The disease continues to circulate in Europe and as winter approaches the risk of migratory wild birds infecting domestic poultry will rise. Therefore now is the time to prepare your biosecurity arrangements for the increasing risks which come with the autumn migration

The UK Poultry Health and Welfare Group (PHWG) is running another series of roadshows this autumn across the UK with a particular focus on biosecurity.  This will provide an opportunity to share lessons learned by government and industry from the previous outbreaks as well as providing advice on the steps all bird keepers should be taking to reduce the risk of avian influenza.
