Business Profile: ProphysioNI

Can you describe your business?

Prophysio and Reformer Pilates is located beside Café Nero at the Showgrounds in Omagh offering top class service in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries in Omagh and the wider areas. We offer a wide range of services including experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapy, reformer pilates on our ‘state of the art’ Allegro reformers and we also offer an indoor golf performance lab.

We specialise in all sports injuries,  back pain and sciatica and all soft tissue injuries. We have a strong emphasis on finding out what is the root cause of injuries and ensuring that the injuries do not return. We don’t just treat injuries but we aim to improve performance through tailored programmes and through our different classes.

Why did you start your own business?

I have spent ten years working in private practice physiotherapy both in New Zealand and in Ireland. I have always wanted to open my own clinic which could offer more than just physiotherapy. I have a love for sport and enjoy working with athletes to help them reach their potential and stay injury free. I believe physiotherapy can have brilliant results for sports injuries, joint pains and soft tissue  injures however the results can often be short term. With the combination of physiotherapy and reformer Pilates the outcomes are much better.

What are the best things about running your own business?

Getting to meet so many new faces and helping people to get over pain and return to the things they enjoy whether it be sport, gardening or just being able to get out for a walk.

What are the main challenges?

I guess our biggest challenge is educating people on the many benefits of Reformer Pilates and how this can improve your quality of life. Although a lot of the top athletes and sports personalities in the world are using Reformers Pilates and posting online on social media about their reformers workouts this is unknown to the Omagh area.

What advice would you give to someone starting a business?

Do the homework before making the big step. Ensure you have taking all the costs and logistics into consideration. Take advice from people who have experience. Fulfil promises to customers and ensure they are well looked after.

Can you describe your experience of running a business in three words or less?

Scary, exciting and rewarding.
