2018 European Cyber Security Month Kicks Off

Raising awareness on cyber security through education and sharing good practices

The sixth edition of the European Cyber Security Month (ECSM) is taking place this October across the European Union.

This annual campaign aims to raise awareness of cyber security threats, promote good cyber practices and improve security and knowledge of individuals and organisations.

Over 400 activities, such as conferences, workshops, training sessions, webinars, online campaigns and more, will take place across Europe during the month to promote safety online.

The year’s initiative focuses on four themes, each one corresponding to a week in October:

  • week 1 (1 to 7 October) – practice basic cyber hygiene
  • week 2 (8 to 14 October) – expand your digital skills and education
  • week 3 (15 to 21 October) – recognize cyber scams
  • week 4 (22 to 28 October) – emerging technologies and privacy
