Omagh Enterprise Company – 25 years ago

Check out the article below about Omagh Enterprise Company that featured in the Ulster Herald 25 years ago. The Company has come along way since then as we currently manage 65,000 square feet of workspace and are developing an additional 14,000 square feet Innovation Growth Centre to begin in 2012.

It’s great to see how the Company has grown and developed over the past 25 years.

New enterprise centre

A NEW £700,000 enterprise centre which is to be built on the outskirts of Omagh will provide a self-help vehicle for local entrepreneurs to develop and expand in small business units. One of the main aims behind the project is to reverse the recent upward spiral of unemployment in the Omagh district and generate economic growth which it is hoped will then enable the local community to meet the challenges of a rapidly increasing population.

The announcement of the new centre, which is to be based at the Gortrush Industrial Estate, was made by the Enterprise Company Chairman, Eugene Scallon, who hoped that the investment would create a minimum of 150 jobs in two years. He said that the sod-cutting ceremony heralded a new beginning for local people.

“It is particularly fitting and appropriate to launch this at Christmas as it must be a sign of hope, encouragement and a vision of birth of opportunity.”
