Entrepreneurs Turn Failure Into Success

Ask any entrepreneur about their success and you will invariably also hear about failures experienced along the way.

Few successful entrepreneurs or business stories fit the romantic notion of achieving overnight success with little or no effort.

Most entrepreneurs say their success came after a lot of hard work and a journey often characterised by early failures.

Success and failure are generally seen as polar opposites whereas in reality they are closely linked, more like two sides of the same coin.

Once we understand the close and interrelated links between success and failure, we can learn from our mistakes and are more likely to succeed in the future.

It is natural, as demonstrated by young children, to learn from a process of trial and error. It is only when we forget to do so that we cease to learn from our mistakes.

We should realise, as entrepreneurs do, that allowing people to fail, learn, and try again is part of the learning process that leads to and encourages future success.

The traditional view sees failure as an end point and therefore many people don’t carry on and learn from their setbacks.

A more realistic and increasingly popular view sees failure as a natural and necessary part of the learning process.

In recent years, the experience of failure is increasingly seen as a strength, as it provides the lessons needed to succeed in the future.

One of the many differences between entrepreneurs and other people is their ability to fail and keep going, to fail and learn, to fail and turn the lessons learned into success.

It is this ability that sets entrepreneurs apart as they have the mindset and perseverance needed to learn from failure.

SO, like entrepreneurs, more of us need to embrace failure as a useful part of the learning process that will guide us to success.
