Business A ‘Piece Of Cake’ For Omagh Woman

Local businesses were among those who attended the recent IFEX Exhibition, the largest trade show for those in the food, drink, retail and hospitality sectors in Northern Ireland, which was held at the Kings Hall from March 11 to March 13 2014.

Among those grabbing attention was local cake specialist Karen Rennie of Encore Cake an Rroll. The Omagh business woman served a special cake for those in attendance, including well known chef and restaurateur Michael Deane, who was the keynote speaker at the event.

Attendees also heard from InterTradeIreland on their business support initiatives and programmes which assist companies to trade on a cross border basis.

OPPORTUNITY

Speaking afterwards, Ms Rennie, who chairs the Western Branch of the Federation of Small Businesses, said, “The FSB wanted to use the opportunity at IFEX to help companies to help themselves through networking and getting sales leads etc.” The local FSB branch has approximately 1,600 members across counties Tyrone, Derry and Fermanagh. “Michael Deane also told us about his ‘business journey’ which was inspiring in that he recognised that running a business is not always a ‘piece of cake’ but can be tremendously rewarding,” said Karen.
