Changes To Business Water Charges

Northern Ireland Water to increase charges for non-domestic customers

Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) has announced changes to its non-domestic water and sewerage charges. From 1st April 2015 charges will increase by 2.4 per cent on average.

This is the first time water charges have increased in three years. For the last two years, NI Water has cut non-domestic tariffs. Charges fell by an average of by 2.5 per cent in 2013 and then by a further 4 per cent in 2014.

After the increase, business can still expect to pay around 5.6 per cent less than in 2012.

The reasons for the increase include rises in operating costs and the cost of improvements to the water and sewerage infrastructure.

How will your business be affected?

If you do not have a water meter, your annual bill may rise by around £16. If you use a meter, you can expect to pay between £4 and £45 extra per year, depending on your usage.

Customers with questions about the new charges can get in touch with NI Water’s Billing Enquiries Team on Tel: 08458 770030.
