Quality Work of Omagh Building Firm Recognised

Omagh contractor GA Adams Building and Roofing has been listed among some of the best construction firms in the UK.

The work of the building and roofing contractor on a new build in Douglas Bridge features among some of the North’s top projects in the 2015 NHBC Pride in the Job Awards.

The UK wide awards recognises personal achievement of site managers in creating new homes of outstanding quality.

The local company was one of the three in the Northern Ireland and Isle of Man category awarded with single home commendation awards.

The award singled out Gordon Adams, who has worked in the trade for over 27 years, for his excellence in on-site management.

Delighted with the win, Gordon welcomed the recognition for the high quality work the firm produces.

In operation for just over 16 years, GA Adams typically specialises in the residential sector, providing services for new build projects and extensions as well as repairs.

Last year the firm were awarded the tender for the large residential property on the Bunderg Road.

Inspired by a house in the Belfast area, the home build was commissioned by a local farming family.

“It was a new build, three storey house in around 5,500 square feet,” explained Gordon. “It was put out to tender and we got it.

“Because it was such a big and elaborate house, the head guy from the NHBC in Belfast came down to take a look at it and recommended us for the award.”

The local contractor said the NHBC representative was impressed by the workmanship evident on the site.

“It was just the workmanship and the finish of the house,” he said. “We always keep a nice tidy site. Whenever they came down the place was always clean and tidy, precautions were always taken.

“The next thing we heard was that we had won it,” said Gordon. “It’s good to get the recognition, I don’t think it will do us any harm.”

Out of some 15,000 entries, the project was among just a handful of local winners.

Congratulating the Omagh firm David Little, regional director for NHBC, said GA Adams’ work was “of an exceptional standard”.

“For 35 years, our Pride in the Job Awards have played a pivotal role in NHBC’s work to raise standards across the industry through the celebration and sharing of best practice. Put simply, site managers that win an award are creating houses of an outstandingly high standard.

“A Pride in the Job award is the highest industry accolade a site manager can receive. It represents success for the site manager, his team and associated trades as well providing a reputation boost for the building company. Most importantly, homeowners who buy a Pride in the Job award winning home benefit from a high quality product.”

GA Adams are now on the shortlist for regional titles which will be revealed in the autumn.
