Business Profile: Rustic Runway

Can you describe your business?

Established in 2012, Rustic Runway has a huge amount of experience in selling vintage clothing, and provides vintage clothing to clients throughout the UK and World-wide.

The company is situated at 2B John Street, Omagh. Rustic Runway’s mantra is ensuring that the customer gets the very best in vintage clothing from across the globe.

Ann-Louise also travels to America once a year to handpick stunning evening gowns and tops. Rustic Runway believes that no matter what size, shape or budget, you’ll find the beautiful blouse, or fabulous dress that you’ve been looking for.

If you visit the shop you will find a huge range of clothing, jewellery and even Margaret O’Connor headpieces which can be hired.

Why did you start your own business?

After leaving a busy retail environment to travel the world I realised that I no longer wanted to work for large companies but rather start something myself that I could be proud of. Omagh Enterprise helped me create a business plan and also have me so much advice.

What are the best things about running your own business?

You call the shots so you are really in charge of everything and to me that is vital in creating an exceptional customer experience. All of my employees have a real love of Vintage also which really helps when selling the pieces and giving advice.

What are the main challenges facing the business?

Really just ensuring that the stock is not only of exceptional quality but also affordable for the customer. That’s why handpicking the items is so important.

What advice would you give to someone starting a business?

Get all the help and advice initially and then just take that leap of faith and do it. You don’t want to look back in the future and think what if.

Can you describe your experience of running a business in three words or less?

Everyday is different.
