The Lounge Hair & Beauty is a salon specialising in L’Oreal. We provide expert advice on all hair types and the products we use in the salon. We offer beauty treatments such as facial waxing, tinting, gel nails and acrylics, make-up application and more.

Why did you start your own business?
I started my own business because I have worked as a hair stylist for 14 years, training and building my skill set and finally I have built up the confidence to do it for myself.
What are the best things about running your own business?
The best thing about running my own business has to be the creative side of it, experimenting with the new trends and ideas. I also love the loyalty you create with your clientele and I love how I’m able to pass my experience on to the junior staff.
What are the main challenges facing the business?
The main challenges facing the business has to be advertising. For a start up business advertising is quite hard to get out there.
At the end of the day no one knows you, our skill set, so really it’s getting that trust in people and the message to people of all ages to experience of ‘The Lounge’ and hopefully give them a treatment they’ll love, only then have I done my job right.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business?
I advise them to prepare themselves for the early starts and late nights, to prepare for a lot of hard work and I would say do your best to keep yourself organised and everything will hopefully fall into place.
