Thirteen Tyrone Firms Feature In Northern Ireland’s Top 100 Companies
A total of 13 firms from Co Tyrone have featured in a list of the Northern Ireland’s top 100 companies.
The Belfast Telegraph this week ranked the companies generating the highest pre-tax profits, with a number of local firms featuring prominently.
Danske Bank claimed top position, with pre-tax profits at the bank surging from £117m to £147.5m. The strongest performing company in Tyrone by some distance, and the only one to feature in the top ten (at number five) was Moy Park.
Although now officially headquartered in Craigavon, Moy Park remains hugely associated with Tyrone and continues to be the county’s biggest private employer.
The company now employs a massive 9,620 people, with an annual pay bill of £242.7m.
One of Europe’s foremost poultry producers, it works with over 800 farmers across the UK, including many in Tyrone, processing six million fresh chickens per week.
Moy Park registered pre-tax profits of £59.7m in 2017, a substantial increase from the £35.7m reported the previous year.
Based in Omagh and Dungannon, American owned Terex GB featured at 14 in the top 100 list. It reported pre-tax profits of £28.2m, an almost £5m rise on the previous year.
Another major employer in the county, Terex has 1,694 workers on its books, paying out some £62.4m in annual wages.
The only other local firm to make the top 20 was Cookstown’s LCC Group. The fuel distributor, based at Lissan, ranked at number 20 after increasing its pre-tax profits from £16.5m to £20.8m.
It represents a significant expansion of the firm, which has gone from employing seven people in 2012 to having 233 on its books
Fellow Cookstown construction firm McAleer and Rushe’s rising fortunes also continue.
Pre-tax profits went from £10m to £13.4m last year, with another excellent year expected following a number of major contracts in England.
Gardrum Holdings, otherwise known as Dromore’s Euroauctions, doubled its profits last year to feature at 31 in the list.
Gardrum Holdings’ pre-tax profits went £6.5m to £13.1m.
The only other Co Tyrone company in the top 50 was Granville based Dunbia.
Like Moy Park, the Dungannon food processor is a massive employer in the county.
The firm has 3,584 employees on its books, generating £79.8m in wages for the local economy.
Pre-tax profits at Dunbia have gone from £7.1m to £11.7m.
