Can you describe your business?
Studio 8 offers a fully tailored interior design service for residential and commercial projects. I aim to create beautiful, timeless interiors that reflect each client’s character and individuality. I work from my boutique design studio on an appointment only basis and from the client’s home or commercial space. With a vast library of sample books and various suppliers- the possibilities are endless.
Why did you start your own business?
I moved home from Australia in June 2015, having worked in the design industry for a number of years, I felt the time was right to go out on my own. I have so much love and passion for my work and it is a decision I have never regretted.
What are the best things about running your own business?
I enjoy the odd holiday and weekend away, so it is great to have the flexibility to take time to switch off- although I make up for it with a lot of late nights!
What are the main challenges facing the business?
Keeping on top of the never-ending paperwork and admin work- unfortunately it isn’t just about working with beautiful fabrics and finishes, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business?
Believe in yourself and your vision. Be prepared to work hard and put in long hours, there are times when you will doubt yourself but stay positive and your hard work will pay off.
