Can you describe your business?
OC eyecare is an opticians based in Carrickmore providing all your eyecare needs. From sight tests to contact lenses. We provide unique eyewear for all ages while looking after your eye health.
Why did you start your own business?
I’ve always wanted to open my own opticians since qualifying from University of Ulster with a degree in Optometry. I wanted to combine being a health professional and my love of fashion. It’s an opportunity to put your own spin on things, create a brand. Having worked in a number of opticians there were always things that I wanted to do differently. I also wanted to change people’s mindset about optometry, their mindset about eye health and eyewear.
What are the best things about running your own business?
You challenge yourself while following your passion, and in turn help people along the way. You control what happens in the business and make all the decisions. Every day is different your always learning.
What are the main challenges facing the business?
I need Bernard’s watch, there’s just not enough hours in the day.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business?
Just do it, don’t dream it. No regrets.
