Can you describe your business?
Niamh Gallogly Podiatry is a HCPC registered foot clinic specialising in all things feet! I carry out professional foot treatments including nail cuts & removal of callous and corns, medical pedicures, gait analysis & orthotic manufacture, toenail reconstruction, reflexology, acupuncture and many more.
Why did you start your own business?
Starting my own business was something I always dreamed of doing. When the opportunity arose to be a part of the Health, Beauty and Wellness team at House of Vixen it was the perfect chance. I really enjoy a challenge and a project and this has been the best one so far.
What are the best things about running your own business?
Being able to have full creative control over decisions, the flexibility that comes with your own hours and most of all the joy it brings when people are happy walking out the door after you have helped them with their foot problem.
What are the main challenges facing the business?
A lot of people associate foot care with a treatment that is only had when “needed”. I want to reach out to people to make podiatric footcare more of a routine practice. A dentist assesses your oral health, an optician assesses your eye health – a podiatrist should assess your foot health!
What advice would you give to someone starting a business?
Be brave and allow yourself to say yes to opportunities that arise. Be organised and set goals. Believe in your own abilities and put your all into everything you do.
